Retry Review

When you play the game for the first time, the first thing that pops in your head is probably “Flappy Bird”. And that’s no big surprise acutally. Retry is based on Flappy Birds concept and art. But Rovio, or LVL11, just made Retry much better than Flappy Bird.

The first big thing about this new game, is Rovios new type of experimental games. Retry takes a bold step from the traditional Angry Birds style, to something completely different. They are currently going to be developing their experimental games through LVL11.

Anyways, back to the game. In Retry, you control an airplane, which you are going to fly from one hangar to another. Sounds simple? Well, it isn’t. There are obstacles between the two points, including air and moving landscapes. When you hold your finger on the screen, your plane will do flips. So the longer your hold it, the more flips it will take. You will basically have to tap the screen many times for the plane to fly smoothly. If you are used to Flappy Birds controls, this will be easy for you to master.

The most notable part of the game, is its 80’s style art. I personally love 8-bit games, so this is just awesome in my opinion.  It really feels old school to play this game. Even the soundtrack is incredibly awesome! If you have a Spotify account, listen to the main theme here. The song is called Love is Gonna Make Us Stronger by Ted Striker. However, the soundtrack that plays during the actual gameplay is even better. Giving you this motivation many games lack, which could have made them better. It has this perfect mix of awesome gameplay, art and soundtrack. It’s everything I could ever want for a simple game to play on the go for Android.

Do yourself a favor and get the game right now for free! You won’t regret it! 5 out of 5!
