Nemo’s Reef Combinations to Attract Fish, Friends or Guests

As I have promised you in my article with Nemo’s Reef tips and tricks, I will share with you all the combinations that I found to bring in new fish, as well as friends or guests to your reef. As you probably know, you will have to plant different types of things from the game’s nursery together in order to attract new inhabitants to the reef. These are usually hard to find and often found by accident (or by paying Pearls for hints), so any list should be really helpful!

So here are the Nemo’s Reef combinations of plants and rocks and so on that I found to bring in new inhabitants, fish, guests or friends!

nemos reef review

Yellow Table Plant near Red Branches
Yellow Table Plant near Rock (specials)
Giant Brown Grass near Purple Marine Shrub
Giant Green Seabush near Green Straight Seaweed
Heap of stone near Yellow Plateau
Orange Tube Sponge near Orange Bell Sea Pen
Maroon Pipe Sponge near Lilac Cirripathes and Violet Sea Shrub
Giant Brown Sea Grass near Purple Marine Shrub
Small Yellow Grass near Seashell and Yellow Bell Sea Pen

For now, these are the combinations that you can try in Nemo’s Reef to attract more fish to your reef. If you know more, please let us know and I will update this list so everybody can enjoy the nice inhabitants!

To keep most new guest you have to grow new plants. Putting previous plants together will not work. Like the yellow octopus. Only one light green srub, one shell and one flat rock is all u need, all new. Zoom in to see your new little fishes, the ones that dissapeare

  • Kalamazooka May 8, 2013, 12:19 PM

Can anyone help me I have tried all combo possibilities with different rocks, different amounts of silver bubbles. Grew them from new when it arrives and can’t get the white seahorse to stay. Please help me!

  • judith April 27, 2013, 11:49 PM

Why do some plants glow highlighter purpel or blue? ?
Also some fish appear in the green sea grass then disappear. They are little ones. Black with yellow strips

I keep planting this enigmatic plant and when it reaches the last stages it dissears on me idk what to do

  • betty April 14, 2013, 9:31 PM

You dont have to feed the fish pearls. Its optional. They wont leave or starve or anything

  • CJ April 13, 2013, 11:20 PM

Not all mystery seeds grow a rare plant. To grow 8 rare plants I had to plant 14 of the expensive mystery seeds and a pearl one watching to see which seeds sparkled when growing. Luckily had been hoarding coin and algae for that weekend

  • sarasreef April 9, 2013, 9:46 PM

Happy psalm…I just got the red octopus in level 23. It just appeared. To keep it you’ll need to buy onelilacc and one red cirripathes. I hope you get one.

Charlene… I got the yellow pajama cardinal by buying a total of 8 extraordinary mystery seeds using up a lot of my pearls. Now to keep him fed to produce one silly pearl I have to use 10000 algae! I guess he’ll be hungry for a while as well as the red frog fish (13000 algae) and the blue emperor, i think it is that needs 20000 algae. What the heck???

  • Ellie April 9, 2013, 5:40 PM

Does someone know What I need to do so i can get a rare plant from a mystery seed?

  • Charlene April 9, 2013, 4:27 PM

To get the Pajama Cardinal the 8 rare plants had to all be different and ones that you didn’t have before. I MISSED GETTING THE RARE FISH BY ONE PLANT.

  • Vicky April 9, 2013, 11:40 AM

    Thank you Lori!!!

  • sarasreef April 9, 2013, 2:14 AM

What happens if you don’t have enough algae to feed all of your fish? 42000 algae for 3 fish every 48+ hours is a lot. I haven’t fed these 3 fish in order to feed the other pearl producing fish.

  • Lori April 9, 2013, 1:45 AM

Your fish didn’t totally disappear….if you zoom in on the area, they are still there, they just don’t show when the screen is regular size. My only fish I can see all the time are mainly ones that I have gotten from mystery seeds and my “guests”

  • Joseph Philpott April 8, 2013, 4:37 PM

This last weekend I had a chance to get a pajama cardinal by planting 8 rare plants of any kind I did that in fact I planted 10 but only gave me credit for 1 :( why is that

  • Vicky April 7, 2013, 10:34 PM

Dear friends, i have tried the combinations above, i see the new fishes for the moment but they disappear immediately.. Why is that? Thank you…

    • GoodbyeWolf January 9, 2014, 7:34 PM

They are probably smaller fish that you can see when you zoom in.

  • MARIA April 7, 2013, 9:49 PM

    • indianocean007 July 6, 2014, 9:25 PM

you need to zoom in on the screen where placed the combination..

  • kandi819 April 7, 2013, 6:11 PM

sarasreef – only the extraordinary mystery seeds are 100% guaranteed to grow a rare plant. The mystery seeds can grow any plant rare or not.

  • Dean1408 April 6, 2013, 7:16 PM

A orange and a green seaweed keep the brown sea dragon
A single extra grown yellow pillow keeps a yellow jellyfish
A extra single green seaweed cluster keeps a green seahorse

  • sarasreef April 6, 2013, 3:45 AM

It was suggested that I grow ANY 8 rare plants in days to earn points and yellow pajama cardinal fish. I did this immediately purchasing 7 mystery seed and 1extraordinary mystery seed but only am credited 1 of 8!! I do not have extra fish and feel like I lost 8400 sand dollars for nothing!, just warning you all. All these plants are listed under rare as suggested.

How do I attract any octupus? I still don’t have one and I’m on level 20-something.

  • sarasreef March 28, 2013, 2:24 AM

Which rare seed produces the bright green thalassadendron?

    • Level33crr April 14, 2014, 5:52 AM

The 10 pearl extraordinary mystery seed will produce the bright green thalasodendron. However I didn’t try but two times before i decided to wait on weekend quests that required 8 rare plants of any kind be grown. I invariably will use the 10 pearl seeds……& it took months of meeting these weekend quests to eventually grow another one. Assignments on the left remain to be fulfilled while daily home works are posted on the right of screen, these you have to get done that day or by the next day they’re gone. I enjoy the challenge of playing without buying the pearls. Oh yeah a weekend quest is exactly what i implies meet the requirements or by Sunday evening it’s up.

Dannybuz I found to keep the yellow jellyfish all you need is to put three yellow pillows next to eachother and that worked good luck hope this works for you…

  • veronica March 19, 2013, 7:24 AM

Hello so a few days ago I got the white clown frog fish and then today got the green bat fish I have looked on line and can’t seem to find anyone who can tell me how to keep theys fish… so please if anyone knows please help me.

    • Christine April 23, 2013, 12:27 PM

To keep the fish that are not guests but are rare fish…just feed then to get your pearls and they stay at your reef.

    • Appy123 March 25, 2014, 2:35 PM

Technically these fish don’t need a plant to make them stay in the reef only guest fish need a certain plant

  • dannybuz March 17, 2013, 6:29 AM

I have never had more than 5 pearls, at one time, and they seem to disappear, even though I don’t use them…I have two fish that give 1 pearl each, if I feed each one 2000 algea apiece…I am stuck, any ideas? …nemosreef4959

      • JoJo April 26, 2014, 2:31 PM

You can easily accidentally spend pearls by unintentionally tapping the finish button at the bottom as you are tapping around.
